Mixed Media and Pix

August 29, 2010

Since my grand-daughters, my art has transformed from thoughtful and angry to joy and humor. I started using poems, songs,or lines from books to title my work and my current mood. I’m thinking of using photos to create my own interpretation(intuitive and psychological) to give me the images and colors:

    Dance Like no 0ne’s watching

Since i became a grandma,  dancing and musicals are a part of my soul-life.

The girls are always singing and dancing..how’s that for natural girly joy!

If you could read my mind

During the 70′s my art consisted of thick, lush oils dripping and wet. This painting was from Gordon Lightfoot’s song:

” the movie queen who plays the scene
of bringing out the best in you”

I thought I was the savior of humanity(especially lost men); I guess this is why I became a therapist.

Today is Art Day

June 6, 2010

I have some ideas in the works: mixes media, a la Paul Gardner–Thick city scapes; paintings of kids doing girly things; ceramics, a la Sherry Bullock. I’d like to fill up all the walls with tile. My little yellow house is always in my heart: 4 of wands.

poem paintings

June 2, 2010

My love of poetry, especially Yeats, has driven me to use poetry,as well as music, as an inspiration to my art:

…”How many loved your moments of glad grace,

And loved your beauty with love false of true,

But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,

And loved the sorrows of your changing face;”…

A tribute to all the Irish I have loved!

traveling–sense of place

May 26, 2010
Since I am focusing on travel at this time in life, the feelings of place are essential in my life and work. The AA phrase of “ wherever you go, there you are” doesn’t apply. Wherever I Go, I become! Like Zelig.

Savannah is so wild and sexy.  Still working on it.

And there is still no place like my little yellow house: home!

Mother’s Day-2010

May 9, 2010

What a joy my little girls are! My palette is so light and full of pink!  I like to add fabric, torn paper, etc.  I’m not afraid of being light,ie

(not a real artist) but a crafty woman. So what ! What’s in a name? The play’s the thing! and I’m into having fun now that I’m in Act 4.

Love to all Artist! M
